The UK government launches a £2 billion (€2.17 billion) grant that will help homeowners save costs on making energy efficient improvements.

As part of the Government’s wider green package, the Green Homes Grant Scheme will be open for applications at the end of this month and will provide a voucher of maximum £10,000 (€10,845) to help cover the cost of environmental home improvements.

Currently, a fifth of UK greenhouse gas emissions is produced by heating buildings. To help lower this, the Government aims to cover two-thirds of the cost of qualifying energy efficiency or low carbon heating improvements to your home. This could not only help to lower greenhouse gas emissions, but also help families save up to £600 (€650) per year in household energy bills.

After installing at least one of the primary measures, homeowners can install additional secondary measures. These are usually upgrades to already existing features, such as:

Prior to deciding which improvement to make, it is recommended to get an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) so you can make an informed decision on the environmental home improvement you’d like to make.
