The legislation in England has classified that balconies become a ‘specified attachment’ to the external wall. Each component of the balcony (and wall) must consist of non-combustible components, defined as those achieving A1 or A2 - s1 d0 rating against the European Standard BS EN13501-1. Certain specific components are exempted from achieving Class A1 or A2, these are to smaller components to a build which include gaskets, membranes, spacers and fixings.

Any projects previously given the notice of approval by building control and those started before the 28th February 2019 are exempt, as well as commercial properties including hotels. In Wales the legislation is similar, though buildings started before 13th January 2020 are exempt. In Scotland, legislation regarding the use of non-combustible materials applies to all buildings over 11 m in height. In Northern Ireland there is currently no legislation beyond the Part B regulations, however we have found Building Control and insurance companies are generally following the English legislation as a guideline.

All non-combustible components and systems are designed with >60 year life span. This is backed up with long working limited warranties on all products; 30 year structural warranty on Hyperion aluminium decking, 20 year warranty on MESA Support systems and 10 year structural warranty on Porcelain paving.

• Hyperion aluminium decking systems are A2 - s1 d0 and A2fl s1 fire rated as defined by BS EN 13501-1.

• Aluminium decking cannot absorb moisture, making them completely water resistant. 150 Aqua-Channel boards create a continuous surface, with patented interlocking attachments and drainage channels which are designed to even mitigate the capillary effect. A drainage piece can also be provided to collect and direct water flow in a controlled way.

• Aluminium decking is incredibly low maintenance, requires no treatment and is very easily cleaned.

• Aluminium is stronger than wood and more rigid, which prevents foundational sloping or sagging.

• Aluminium has a high thermal conductivity, allowing it to dissipate heat throughout the material and keep the board cooler underfoot.

• Aluminium decking is resistant to insects, as well as being weather and mould resistant too.

• Aluminium is one of the easiest materials to recycle, making it a particularly sustainable choice. It is also non-toxic, hypoallergenic and does not emit any VOCs (volatile organic compounds).

• The decking can be produced in an assortment of colours and even with a wood-grain pattern.

150 Aqua-Channel boards come with a profile of 150 x 21 mm and a length of 3.6 m. They come in stock colours of Grey Brown and Anthracite Grey, though they can be given any RAL code colour, along with the option of wood grains.

Our aluminium decking has been tested in accordance with BS EN 14231 and is certified low-slip potential even when wet.

We offer up to 30 years warranty.

The systems were created with rapid installation in mind:

• Pedestals can be very quickly adjusted to their required height by rotating the pedestal head.
• Pedestals are simply laid onto protective rubber mats and require to fixing or adhesive.
• Bearers are easily fixed to pedestals by drilling screws through the holes in the sides of the pedestal head.
• An edge trim must be screwed to the bearers first, before deck boards can hook into place and be screwed down.
• A simple system using inserts allow screws to be hidden and are easily pushed into place.

To clean an aluminium deck, all you need is a solution of warm water and non‐abrasive, pH neutral detergent. Rinse thoroughly after cleaning to remove all residues. Clean your deck using a soft cloth, sponge or a natural bristle brush.

• Steel cradles are simple to install due to their 'twist to adjust' feature. This also means installing on uneven or sloping surfaces requires minimal effort.

• Protective rubber membranes allow for the protection of roofing membranes.

• Our aluminium joists are non-combustible as well as fully recyclable.

• These are the most cost effective non-combustible pedestals on the market.
